table setting: vintage hotel plates & silver

yesterday, after my friend and i got a very nice pedicure (just that much: i never guessed it - but emerald green toe nails are oooh so pretty...!) i strolled through the picturesque old town of zurich. i wasn't on the look-out for anything special, and was actually only heading towards the flea-market. that's when i discovered a beautiful new store: contra-punkt. i was attracted by its vintage inspired furniture and home designs. the shop assistant was very cute and informed me that they offered both, old and new stuff. i find the concept amazing. it was hard not to to end in a splurge... i could have brought so many more beautiful things home! but i finally only picked some vintage hotel plates and silver forks and knives to go with (i actually really 'needed' those. yeah, well...).

i showed my aquisitions to sami, my new best friend at the flea market, who shared one of his juicy peaches with me while we chatted. sami told me the silver i bought wasn't very precious, matter of factly. he explained that the silver was just a coating, which is typical for so-called 'hotel silver'. and that they looked 'a little used' (that one was good... haha. they actually look used a lot!). i told him that that's exactly what i liked. he closed with the diagnosis that if i considered them pretty, then they most certainly were precious, anyway. right he is.

i'm off to work now (on a brilliant sunday)... feck. but you know what? i'm wearing a see-through top to work today (a tiny rebellion that i consider necessary when working sundays).

enjoy your day!
love
