There’s something about chocolate that always makes me see the output (read: the chocolatey goodness i just created) in a monochromatic way. Why? Because the Black and White scenes offset the chocolate’s beautiful, luscious dark, chocolatey brown even more. What normally appears to be just a dark brown color shines even more on an otherwise bland blackContinue reading
Some might associate spring or summer with the loveliest flowers, but for me it’s always been Fall… Just look at those mighty Sunflowers! Huge! And right in front of my mom’s house, in the middle of the city, on an underestimated little field. The abundance of flowerful colors – Sunflowers but also Dahlias and thoseContinue reading
“Gone fishing in the middle of nowhere” – how does this status update sound to you? It was what we actually and honestly did this summer during one blissful week: Fishing in Finland. Looking at the pictures now i feel a pang of longing.
Summer isn’t all but gone yet – despite the much chillier mornings and nights – but i’m already craving darker, moodier, more comfort oriented foods. If only for the looks. And what better to fulfill this mood than dark, intense, naughty chocolate?
Hi, dears, while you read this, I’m definitely away on my little vacay. Probably fishing. Or picking blueberries. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Finland. Blissful vacation. Clearing my mind. Meanwhile, back here on F&F, I have a lot of catching up to do… With recipes.
To start things off: I’m really sorry – crushed, actually – for that long absence from F&F! It’s been too long (you can tell this by spotting the peonies, who are clearly not late summer flowers, ahem… still very pretty though, and a shame to waste a perfectly good picture). Uncharacteristically, I’ve neglected this spaceContinue reading
This recipe by sneh from Cook Republic is basically it. Not really that much more to add. It’s a fun thing to play with the term (and flavors of) “macaron”, because i’d usually never try to make these. but turned into a macaraon like bread (or cake, much rather), I’m game! Sneh recommends you eat it toastedContinue reading
If one Credo has proven to be a good one in my life, it’s to strive for semi-perfect. Seeking perfection isn’t a virtue, instead, it steals a lot of time. Semi-perfect is often so much less stressful and thus more healthy and more efficient, too. It’s a lesson i’m still learning, as i’m often losingContinue reading
Coconut is probably one of my favorite flavors… I don’t necessarily mean the (cheap) perfumes and body sprays (the term alone…) I used as a teenager. I admit I slightly overdid it with these. Much rather, I refer to the connotations of coconut with summer, sun and beaches – because obviously I’ve spent my beach vacations in Italy, where freshlyContinue reading
This cooking/baking and blogging job isn’t always hard work… It’s nice to get a readily made cake delivered to your kitchen for a quick shoot, before it’s transported on for a party. My mom made this intricate, layered sponge, mango and cream cake for my nephew’s 6th birthday. Tt was, apparently, one hell of aContinue reading
