Some might associate spring or summer with the loveliest flowers, but for me it’s always been Fall… Just look at those mighty Sunflowers! Huge! And right in front of my mom’s house, in the middle of the city, on an underestimated little field. The abundance of flowerful colors – Sunflowers but also Dahlias and thoseContinue reading
Although fall is definitely my favorite season – how can anyone not love it? it’s not as cold as the winter, it’s not as scorching as summer and it’s not as unpredictable as spring… And that’s just for everything that it’s not. Apart from the fact that it is also a lot of really good things…
Summer isn’t all but gone yet – despite the much chillier mornings and nights – but i’m already craving darker, moodier, more comfort oriented foods. If only for the looks. And what better to fulfill this mood than dark, intense, naughty chocolate?
Hei Hei, I’m back! Back from our little summer vacay in Finland – and already back (knee deep) at work. The holidays passed fairly quickly, then again, our stay in the rural log cabin in the lake country of Finland, near Kuopio, was magic and uplifting and also strangely felt like time stood still. I’mContinue reading
Coconut is probably one of my favorite flavors… I don’t necessarily mean the (cheap) perfumes and body sprays (the term alone…) I used as a teenager. I admit I slightly overdid it with these. This cooking/baking and blogging job isn’t always hard work… It’s nice to get a readily made cake delivered to your kitchen for a quick shoot, before it’s transported on for a party. My mom made this intricate, layered sponge, mango and cream cake for my nephew’s 6th birthday. Tt was, apparently, one hell of aContinue reading
one of the first dishes my brother and i learned to make all on our own was this wonderful, very simple, home made chocolate pudding. we used to have to stand on stools to be able to peek into the pots. i don’t recall where the recipe for this originally came from, but i assumeContinue reading
i seem to be into pinks and greens, lately, as evidenced by my instagram feed and as my blog post pipeline suggest (more green to come!). what’s not surprising, because obviously, i like both colors. my kindergarten aged nephew though seemed to have liked this cake a lot – in spite (of because?) of theContinue reading
any excuse to sneak chocolate into my meals – or my snacks, mind – is welcome in my book… when it’s not as bad for me i’m doubly euphoric, of course. these superfood (i.e. dried fruit and nuts) dark chocolate nibbles are good for you, minus the often involved guilty pleasure compensation. i created themContinue reading
this cake is linked to so many wonderful childhood memories… my “aunt” tante used to make it for me, because i loved it so. the fruity, juicy apricots are probably not in season just yet – but in case of an imminent craving, frozen fruit works just as well. bout of nostalgia guaranteed!
