most work days in my life are not bad, not bad at all. i’m in a job i love, that is actually something i am good at, even, and it even is fun, most days. on nights of most of such days, cooking is the means to transport me from my job me to my homey me. it helps me to relax and get away from it all.
that was not one of those nights… that was one of those nights where you can muster not even the power to grab your purse and walk to mcdonalds to get dinner (and trust me, i know what i’m talking about – a mcdonalds is just in front of my home…). that’s one of the nights where you think a bag of gummibears will have to do, and then find an old bunch of brussels sprouts (with just a bit of garlic cloves, because you know you won’t have to kiss anyone anymore that night) in the fridge and think ‘oh, what the heck, i am a cook, after all…’ – turn on the oven and make a quick dinner for yourself.
roasted garlicky brussels sprouts
ingredients (not much, as you can see):
brussels sprouts, washed, trimmed and halved
2 garlic cloves, squeezed (just because your too lazy to mince them, like me)
3 tbsp. olive oil
maldon sea salt
preheat the oven to 220 degrees and turn on the grill function. place a parchment paper on a baking sheet, and evenly spread the sprouts on it. drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic and maldon sea salt. roast in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes. a good meal. yup, a full on main course, no less. because i was lazy like that (i warned you).
